Big Lake Schools are available for facility use. Businesses, local organizations or individuals can rent the school facilities based off of the school district's facility fee schedule.
How to schedule facilities?
The use of all school facilities will be arranged through the Community Education Services Office located in Big Lake Independence Elementary School, Door J. Please feel free to contact Paula Jelen at 763-262-7188 or p.jelen@biglake.k12.mn.us to check availability or make a reservation.
Rental/Reservation of Facility Contracts for non-school activities/organizations must be submitted and approved at least three working days prior to the requested date of use. Reservations requiring additional school staff not already on duty must be submitted and approved at least two weeks prior to the requested date of use. A non-refundable permit fee must accompany all facility rental/reservation contracts before any facilities are reserved. A deposit or payment may be required prior to the use of district facilities. Rentals will be processed on a first come first served basis.
Groups and Organizations not associated with Independent School District 727 must provide their own liability and damage insurance when renting school facilities. A certificate of insurance must be on file prior to using District 727 facilities.
Permit Fees
A $10 non-refundable permit fee payable to Big Lake Community Education for all rental groups or individuals shall be submitted with each rental contract before a facility is reserved. A separate non-refundable permit fee must be submitted for adding dates to an existing contract. Rental groups changing dates and/or times may also be subjected to an additional permit fee.
Canceled Events
Cancellations of facility contracts must be made at least 48 hours in advance for a weekday use of school facilities and one week in advance for weekend use of facilities or renter will be liable for all rental fees.
When school is canceled due to inclement weather or physical problems, all scheduled rentals and activities will also be canceled.
Right of Refusal
District 727 reserves the right to cancel for just cause. District 727 has the right to deny access and use of district facilities when it is not consistent with the mission, vision, and strategies of the school district and/or when the activity is in direct conflict with a current school program, activity, or service.
