THE OPENING DOORS NETWORK
The Opening Doors Program is a network of cooperation between the communities of Becker, Big Lake, Buffalo/Hanover/Montrose, Monticello and Howard Lake/Waverly/Winsted. The goals of the program are to promote growth and life enrichment for adults with challenges through personal growth, education, recreation, health and fitness, and socialization. An Advisory Council whose members represent the five school districts in the consortium, meet quarterly to develop and facilitate programs which seek to:
1. Identify adults in the five school districts who may need services;
2. Enable adults with challenges to participate in established classes/activities;
3. Initiate specific classes for adults with challenges;
4. Increase public awareness of adults with challenges and their contributions;
5. Enhance the role of adults with challenges and their contributions to community.
